I've been upset that some cable news stations have been comparing these fires to Katrina. Every single element of the SoCal fires is completely different from the hurricane, especially when you look at the government response. As you said, you'd think they were deliberately trying to dismantle New Orleans, the way they neglected it.

Then again, I haven't been watching much cable news. CNN's website is all fire news above the fold, but Google News features just one or two articles about it. Cutting down on cable news intake is a good way to reduce levels of disgust, overall.
